down. You might slip and fall to your death."
S042: "  You're standing within a forest which looks like one out of the winter
tales your mother told you when you were a child. Fresh snow covers the ground
and trees, and it's totally quiet here. You've never seen such a peaceful
place. The path you're on continues to the northwest and east. Dense
undergrowth marks the boundary of the path to the south. At one spot, it looks
as if someone who climbed up the hill broke through it."

as you'd put your foot on it."
S044: "  This is an open place, surrounded by a forest on three sides. To the
west, there's a slope leading down to the lake. Paths lead into the forest to
the southeast, north and east. A small chapel overlooks the whole valley."
S045: "The small chapel is standing on an open place within the forest,
overlooking the valley below. Its doors stand invitingly open."
S046: "The slope leads down into the valley. However, it's covered with ice, so
you probably wouldn't get down safely."

world."

you. Indeed, all sorts of herbs are hanging on the walls. In the middle of the

brewing some strange but nevertheless good smelling liquid. The door lies
behind you to the south."
S069: "The healer is an old man, but what's most funny about him is his size:
he's a whole head smaller than you."
S070: "You've never seen such herbs before. You wonder where they might come

falls inside, it's glittering inside as if the walls of the cavern would be
covered with diamonds. The cavern may be entered to the north, and a path heads
southeast towards the woods."

S085: "The flyer shows the most beautiful crystals you've ever seen. Printed on
it are the words: "Visit the Crystal Cavern"."
S086: "It's dark inside, but you can make out something glittering inside the
cavern."
S087: "A grim looking guardian is sitting in front of the cavern."
S088: "  As you enter the crystal cavern, you are overwhelmed by the sheer
beauty of the crystals which cover the walls. The guardian is here, extremely
happy to answer the youngsters' neverending flow of questions concerning the
big crystal floating in the middle of the cavern a few inches above the
ground."
S089: "You are amazed by the big crystal. It's the most beautiful crystal
you've ever seen - and it's floating above ground!"

S091: "Many crystals cover the walls of the cavern, glittering in rainbow
colors."
S092: "The crystal glitters and sparkles like a diamond."
S093: "  You've just reached a fork in the road, where the road that comes in
from the west bends to the east and southeast. To the southeast, the wood seems
to become darker."
S094: "  You continue walking the forest path for some time until you come to a
huge chestnut tree. Despite the sharp frost, you stop and pause for a minute.
After a minute or two spent absorbing the silence completely, you decide to
move on. The path heads north and southwest, to the west is the castle wall."
S095: "A young boy is here, sitting on his toboggan. He's crying."
S096: "A toboggan was left behind here."
S097: "  You've just reached a small clearing deep within the woods. Looking up
into the lonely sky, you can not even see a single cloud, the sky is blue and
clear like an ocean. Unfortunately, the path that comes in from the south ends
here. The clearing is surrounded by thorny undergrowth, not allowing you to
pass."
S098: "The undergrowth is too thorny to go that way."
S099: "The fawn is very beautiful. A deep wound is gaping in its side; it seems
to be very serious."
S100: "A fawn is lying on the ground. It looks as if it is wounded seriously.
"Please," it speaks to you. "Please, take pity on me! Help me, or I will die!""
S101: "  The further you go, the darker the wood becomes. Here at this spot,
the Christmas atmosphere has almost vanished, you feel uneasy. The fork lies
behind you to the northwest, and the woods become even darker to the south."
S102: "A wolf is lurking nearby."
S103: "The wolf looks emaciated, he is only skin and bone. His eyes sparkle as
you approach, but he cannot hide his dull look. "Food," he says. "I'm starving.
Please, some food.""
S104: "The ice flower looks just as if it was made of crystal, but when you
touch it, you can feel its fragility... it consists of ice!"
S105: "  You're standing in front of a lovely small house within the forest.
You are amazed by the beautiful garden the owner has layed out. There are four
square flower-beds upon which ice flowers are growing. Between the beds, four
garden paths run directly to a well in the middle of the garden. The house lies
to the east, while the road back into the woods runs west."
S106: "A lovely white front door is set into one wall of the house."

S111: "  You're now standing in the well. A thick ice layer covers the ground
of it. Well, now that you've seen that there's nothing of importance here, you
may want to get out again."

that it actually is garbage, there would be a chance that you mistaken the
cellar by either the studio of a modern artist (if you're somewhat nuts) or a
PC shop (if you're a normal human being)."

of food are stored here. However, most of the food looks or smells as if it was
beyond expiration date."

disappearing in the banquet hall.

made of - ice, as is the huge chandelier hanging above you. You may leave the
castle to the south, smaller doorways lead north, west and east."
S146: "Just as the castle itself, the chandelier seems to be made of ice."
S147: "Incredibly, the shadow seems to be moving."
S148: "  You find yourself at the bottom of some stairs winding up. The entry
hall is to the south."
S149: "You follow the shadow into the banquet hall, but to your astonishment,
there's nobody there!

S150: "  The castle's banquet hall is the largest room within the castle. Most
of the room is occupied by a long table at which up to about twenty guests can
take place. Several paintings cover the icy walls of this room which only exit
lies west of here."
S151: "The long table offers enough room for about twenty guests. It was made
of the highest-grade mahogany and bears beautiful ornaments."
S152: "There are four paintings which show landscapes of all four seasons:
spring, summer, autumn and winter."
S153: "On this painting, you see a beach. The sun shines warm and bright, and
small children are playing in the sand and swimming in the water."

ice-skating. However, one boy is sitting by the side of the lake, obviously not
as happy as the others."

partly due to the pure and clean ice on the west wall which mirrors the room.
The exit is to the east. Most of the room is occupied by a large gaming table."

S169: "It's green, with yellow dots. Some writing on the towel reads "Don't
Panic!"."

to the northwest."

Amazingly enough, there are only a bed and a bedside table here, both very
small."

S185: "The man is amazingly small and has a white beard. He's snoring softly."

S187: "  This is the top of a hill. From here, you have an amazing view over
the lake and the village. A path leads down the hill to the south."
S188: "Something's glittering in the snow... it looks like a gold watch!"
S189: "It's a beautiful and valueable gold watch."
S190: "  You've come to a small farmyard which lies deserted in the snow. A
farmhouse may be entered to the north, and near the farm is a pump. To the
west, a path leads through snow-covered fields back to the hill."
S191: "This is the pump mechanism which supplies the farm with water."
S192: "The farmhouse is small and lovely but poor."
S193: "The farm door stands invitingly open."
S194: "The farm door is shut."
S195: "The bucket is filled to the brim with clear water."

S197: "  You've just entered a small, lovely farmhouse, home to an old farmer
and his daughter. The smell of Christmas biscuits hangs in the air, and
beautiful frost flowers adorne the window. An open doorway leads north into
another room, and the way back out of the farmhouse is south."
S198: "Would you like it if strangers would walk through your house?"
S199: "An old farmer is sitting here, lost in thoughts."
S200: "The old man is lost in thoughts. The shadow of desperation flickers in
his dull eyes."

S215: "  You can hardly believe what you see when you step out of the
undergrowth. Spring has come, and the farmer's fields are green. The farmer and

farmer laughs. "Spring's there!"

  You are invited to the farmhouse, celebrate Christmas and talk with the two
until late in the evening, as suddenly the farmer gets up. "Time for Christmas
Mass! I'll go and get the sleigh. I'll wait outside to meet you!"
  You go outside, where the farmer is already waiting for you in a sleigh
dragged by two black horses. Only the jingling of the bells in their mane
breaks the silence of Christmas night on your ride to the chapel.
  As you arrive at the chapel, the bells just began chiming. Christmas Mass is
wonderful, the most wonderful mass you've ever been to - although you do not
hear much of the mass. All you can think of is that beautiful girl sitting next
to you. And then, when the mass is over, the farmer goes up to the priest.
Although he whispers, you can hear him saying "Can you marry these two
tonight?"

  Later, you sit together with your wife in front of the church, arm in arm,
and recall the events of the day, a day that is burnt in your memory forever.
Lying in the girl's arms, you just cannot believe how lonely you felt this
morning.

  Then angels from the realms of glory wing their flight all over Earth. Ye who
sang creation's story now proclaim Messiah's birth:
